Ideal Lab’ Longer Participation

The co-creative design research program Ideal Lab´ invites 10 Agents from different backgrounds: creative, public, institutional and industrial to intervene within different social issues. In 2010, the theme “Longer Participation” concerned the active participation of elders. One of the projects was led by the Danish artist Charlotte Grum. She held a workshop series called “Sensing Dale” and dealt with the relationship between memories and felt impressions of elder inhabitants of the town. A psycho-geographic method was used. Fifth grade kids were involved in the workshop mapping fun and frightening places. The results of both workshops opened up another angle on the urban development. As a result Fjaler Municipality commissioned Ralston & Bau to design a park and a series of urban lighting: Shroom. You can visualize the Catalogue here.
